Diederich Roland Magnark grew up in Lordaeron City where he was trained in priesthood of the Church of Holy Light. He grew up and had five children - but his wife, Freida Magnark, died at the birth of her last child. Diederich continued and raised his children. He was 47-years-old when the Scourge invaded. During the battle for the city, he died, along with the rest of his family.
When Sylvanas broke the Forsaken free, Diederich found himself liberated and sought to serve the Dark Lady. Along with many other former priests, he could not summon the Light to him. Upon this, he embarked down the new, twisted representation of the Church of Holy Light, which was the Forgotten Shadow. As a shadowpriest he served on the front lines as a Defiler, healing other Forsaken with his dark magic and learning the art of true combat with his staff and dagger. He became a skilled apothecary as he learned to heal more advanced wounds and was accepted into the Royal Apothecary Society. He served as a front line battle-priest during the time he was working his way up the Defilers.
Eventually, though, he retired from the front lines and used his priestly knowledge to educate other priests and give spiritual guidance in the way of Forgotten Shadow. Though he still kept up his work within the Royal Apothecary Society, earning greater skills and increasing his potential in the art of Fleshwerk and Plaguology.
Diederich joined a particular cell of the Forgotten Shadow known simply as the Cult of Shadow. He worked up to become one of the Shadowpope's "Chosen" members, which were allowed to direct members, bring new souls into the cause and preach in the name of the Shadowpope.
It now came to the point where Diederich had been Forsaken for about ten years and since the birth of the Forsaken, he was now the ripe older age of 57. He had become clever and ambitious, but he left the Cult of Shadow to pursue his own goals. He formed a political-military-intelligence organisation called the House of Sylvanas, in which he created to exercise the will of Sylvanas and protect the lands. Using the knowledge he worked up his whole "unlife", he is growing the House stronger by the minute.
